Jonathan’s Speech Evaluation

Author: Administrator  :  Category: Family Updates

Last Wednesday, a group from ECI came out to go a thorough evaluation on Jonathan’s speech. We thought it would be a good idea since he couldn’t hear well for the first 10 months of his life. Of course, after the appointment was made, he had a language burst.
Anyway, he was ahead in some things and right on target for the rest. He has started speaking 3-4 word sentences and his vocabulary has really blossomed. He was late to start talking, but he caught up very well. I’m very thankful. They had him do puzzles, point to object in pictures and a lot of other things. He did some things I didn’t know he could do!

Sara’s standing!

Sara went from pulling up
in her crib one day:
To Standing soon after:
On her Knees! Standing! On her Knees!

She still won’t sit, but the occupational therpist thinks that she has something structurally wrong with her left leg. Possibly in the hip. She doesn’t bend that leg like the right one and her foot turns in a lot. We will discuss it with the pediatrician in a week and see what needs to be done, if anything. They said that if she needed therapy to call them back. This was a group from the Early Childhood Intervention in our area. They are excellent and if your children need anything like speech therapy or you think they might, give them a call for an evaluation.
